Fair Week

The Fair was very kind to us this year.

Judea got a best in show for her photography. Both Sam and Bobo won blue ribbons and I got the sweepstakes for writing. The writing community is rather tight around here. I have known all the sweepstake winners in the past, so it was very nice that I got the top honor, because I never thought I would with the amount of experience and talent I have to compete against.

The Mentoring program also got the top honor in the "Canstruction" contest. We built a tomato patch out of campbells soup cans and used the theme "planting seeds for tomorrow."

More trophies and ribbons for the office. We may have to get a trophy cabinet!

Hello World

Summer is almost over. (Overwhelming sadness) But I did manage to complete several of my summertime projects. I tuned and overhauled the piano. I learned to play the mandolin (still working on that actually). I refreshed myself on the ukulele -- and even learned how to spell it correctly. I read, finishing more fluff than lit. Finished three more in the Dresden Series. Started Wicked, The Dark Tower, and the Pendragon Series. Need dark winter nights to complete those.

Worked on my tan and am now watching it fade away. Started my diet. Cleaned the garage. Fixed the car.

Watched several tv series from start to finish (the only way they should be watched anymore): True Blood, Being Human, Torchwood (all three seasons plus the relating Dr. Who), The Monarch of the Glen (we are all allowed guilty pleasures, are we not), Robin Hood and Merlin. And the only reason I watched so much TV was that the only movie worth watching this summer was Harry Potter. May we never suffer through another writer's strike. (Not withstanding the Dr. Horrible by product)

So with that, maybe I am ready to return to the grindstone, if just to get a break :)
